The flu epidemic is in full swing, but the high point is still on its way!

Winter is here, and with it the cold common cold epidemic. To stay healthy throughout winter, I mix a smoothie every 3 days to strengthen the immune system. After all, I head to the mountains almost every weekend, and I want to be fit. My favorite smoothies contain valuable vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, because these little powerhouses strengthen the body's defenses. Banana is my personal secret tip, because the sweet fruit is a true source of happiness (hello serotonin!), and thus protects against a winter depression. After all, not everyone has a snowy mountain at their front door. Here are my 3 favorite recipes for delicious smoothies. Sweet, fruity, or green - there is something for every taste ... All 3 flu smoothies are vegan, by the way.

To the blenders, ready, go! If you are still looking for a super high performance blender, we can warmly recommend the blender by Russel Hobbs. There is currently a great sale on at Amazon.

Vitamin Bomb #1: Green smoothie of the season

This green giant is full of vitamins and minerals. This is because it mainly contains seasonal ingredients. In the German winter, Mother Nature does not offer the greatest variety of seasonal and smoothie-suitable products. However, storage apples, pears, beets, and salads can be used without hesitation. They are full of vitamins, and are not shipped from overseas. Pay attention to the origin. The more regional, the healthier! An exception I make mostly with banana and avocado. Because bananas simply make you happy, and avocado contains the healthy fats that the body needs for vitamin intake.

Ingredients for the green immune booster:

  • 1 handful of field salad (or frozen spinach)
  • 1 small apple
  • 1 banana (the more mature the banana, the sweeter the smoothie)
  • ½ avocado
  • a little cress
  • 2 slices of fresh ginger
  • 200 ml sugar-free soy drink (I also use soy yogurt, that way it becomes more solid and creamy.) Ideal basis for muesli!)

Preparation of the flu smoothie:

  • Place all ingredients in the blender, and mix thoroughly.

Tip:

Those of you who like it sweeter can stir some honey into it. If you would like to experiment with other ingredients, you will find an overview of ideal winter ingredients on this page.

Vitamin Bomb #2: Vitamin C immuno-boost smoothie with citrus fruits

The vitamin C smoothie is my secret weapon against stubborn colds. Ingredients such as grapefruit, kaki, orange, pomegranate, and lemon contain such a high concentration of vitamins and antioxidants that the body can’t help but be healthy.

Ingredients for the Super C Smoothie:

  • 2 oranges
  • 1 grapefruit
  • 1 kaki
  • ½ pomegranate
  • ½ lemon
  • A pinch of turmeric (even better: fresh turmeric!)

Preparation of the flu smoothie:

  • Peel the fruits, and add the pulp and turmeric to the blender. If you like, you can add fresh ginger.

Tip:

A teaspoon of linseed oil makes the drink even healthier! And should you like it thicker, you can add 2 tablespoons of soy yogurt.

Vitamin Bomb #3: Battling winter depression with a raspberry chocolate smoothie

Fans of sweet smoothies can look forward to a healthy chocolate bomb. The chocolate raspberry smoothie combines creamy chocolate, sweet banana, and delicious raspberries. Just the right thing against winter depression. Bananas don’t only contain healthy vitamins and nutrients, they also make you happy. If you eat bananas, you’ll boost the transmitter substance serotonin, which makes for a good mood. Raspberries contain valuable antioxidants, calcium, magnesium, and vitamin C. Despite their sweetness they contain little fruit sugar. The right mixture, therefore, to counteract a winter depression as well as a cold.

Ingredients for a large portion of chocolate raspberry smoothie:

  • 250 ml soy chocolate drink (the soy chocolate drink from Alpro is the creamiest)
  • handful of raspberries (frozen is fine)
  • 1 banana
  • 1 pinch of pepper

Preparation of the flu smoothie:

  • Place the raspberries, banana, and soy chocolate drink in a blender, and mix thoroughly. Then pour into a glass, sprinkle a pinch of pepper over it, and finish off the sweet vitamin bomb!

With these 3 Smoothie recipes, your immune system should be perfectly equipped against the flu epidemic!

Colds should have little chance with these recipes. ;-) Why not share your secret recipes with us in the comments. We look forward to them. :)

Lots of love, and and stay healthy in the flu season!
