Dream Bowl - Make Your Own Colorful Bowls

Chiara Vitzthum - Ernährung

This is how you bring color to your plate or better, to your bowl

Colorful, healthy and most of the times, vegan food is more and more visible on different Social Media platforms. For me, it started with the three daily posts on “what I eat a day”.

Soon, more and more vegan Instagram users started following me, making me aware of the huge smoothie bowl trend. In the beginning, my own bowls were quite plain and not very appealing. I used different kinds of fruit, to incorporate a bunch of colors and topped everything with seeds and seasonal fruit. But still, I was far from creating the colorful explosions you see today!

Someday I came across several brands on Amazon, selling blue spirulina powder and shipping it to Germany. I was also able to get my hands on some of the other naturally colorful powders on the market, at a very reasonable price.

Nowadays, a lot of these things are sponsored by those brands, for me to use in my bowls and promote their products as an influencer. And so, from day to day, my bowls became more colorful, more magical and simply irresistible.

The Base For Every Colorful Bowl

The preparation of the perfect bowl usually looks as following:

  • 1 ripe, frozen banana, chopped up
  • 200 g frozen fruit (e.g. mango & pineapple)
  • 100 ml plant-based milk (e.g. almond milk)
  • 1 tbsp plant-based yogurt (e.g. soy yogurt)
  • 1 scoop protein powder (e.g. with vanilla flavor) and depending on what color you want to be your smoothie base, 1-2 tbsp of a colorful powder

To give your bowl more color, take a separate bowl and blend 1 tbsp yogurt with 1/2-1 tbsp colorful powder of your choice! Then use the blend to create stripes or swirls on top of your bowl, using a spoon.

Finally, it’s time to add the topping! Therefore I am using edible flowers, vegan cookies (e.g. Oreos), vegan chocolate, vegan, colorful sweets, baking decoration, bee pollen, berries and fruit, seeds, nuts, grains and bliss balls (also called energy balls), on top of which I then sprinkle more of the colorful powder.

Breakfast has become my favorite meal of the day. No matter whether it’s called #galaxy, #unicorn, #mermaid, #ocean or #rainbow!

Your creativity has no boundaries! Inspiration is all around you!
